"Don't Touch My Caribeaner": Ziplining in Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica was our first port, and the place where we went ziplining !!!! Wooohhhhooooo !!

We started off with a bit of a drive . . . up, up, and higher up into the mountain/rain forest area. Jack and I had a front row seat on the bus for our drive: Jack was in the passenger seat of our crowded bus, and I sat next to him in a kind of fold-out/trundle seat, with my feet on the dashboard !!! Seatbelts, schmeatbelts . . . not on this bus !!! So we had a prime view of all the human-sized potholes in the road (a single lane that was actually a two-way road !), and the ravines over the side of the road (very few and small guardrails !!) Thank God our driver's name was Lucky . . . . that's exactly what we were to make it to our destination !! The ziplining was nothing after that ride !!!

After getting strapped into our harnesses and helmets, we were off ! There were about 9 or 10 different sections that made up the whole ziplining course. Here are a few videos that Jack took of our experience:

So glad we chose this activity . . . it was so much fun !!!!!!

More cruise posts to come . . . . !

"Makes Me Smile" Monday

Hmmmmm . . . let's see . . . . . what's making me smile today . . . . ???!!

My wonderful vacation, of course !!!
We were so blessed with this trip ! So much to be grateful for: beautiful 80+ weather, the time to relax and soak up some sun, the great food (and not having to cook or clean up !), the fun activities, the amazing beauty and color of our surroundings, and time to spend with my favorite person !!
Are these not the faces of relaxed, happy people ??!?!?!!!

More pictures on the way . . . . . !

"Makes Me Smile" Monday

"The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear ?
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread ? . . .
Though a host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear. . . ."

"I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord."
- Psalm 27:1, 3, 13, 14 -

Bird, Bird, Bird . . . Bird Is Not The Word !

That's what I've been pondering of late . . . . what's my word for this year ?!?!?????!

In Eat, Pray, Love (which I'm currently in the middle of), the author discusses with an Italian friend how Rome has its own word: " . . . every city has a single word that defines it, that identifies most people who live there . . . " They take that thought a little further, saying that everyone has their own personal word, and that if your personal word doesn't match the word of the city, you don't belong in that place. (Rome's word is "sex", by the way !)

This started me thinking about what my personal word must be . . . . and that seemed very overwhelming and almost impossible to come up with just one word that defines me ! But, with this being the start of a brand new year and all, I decided to choose a word that I wanted to define me in 2008 . . . my own little spin on setting New Year's resolutions, if you will !

(from Country Living)
I picked the word "BLOOM".
2007 felt a little on the stressed-out, dissatisfied, semi-angry, and moody side . . . just tough in general ! So many days were those that I just wanted to "get thru". . . . . survival mode !!! I would love for this year to be different . . . to be a year of vibrant, thriving, and ecstatic living !!! I keep thinking of the saying, "Bloom where you're planted" . . . and it seems to fit. I spend so much time wishing and dreaming of being planted in different circumstances and experiences that I don't always try to thrive in the good soil I'm already in ! So that's my word, and I'm stickin' to it !!!
What's your personal word ??? Or the word you would pick to define this new year ???? I'd love to hear them . . . so this might be a good time to invite any lurkers to show themselves and share their words !!!!
